How Long Does Botox Last?

When it comes to anti-ageing treatments, anti-wrinkle injections are one of the most popular choices. Long-lasting with exceptional results, it’s widely used in men and women to achieve a more youthful appearance and smoother skin. But how long does Botox last? Here’s more about the treatment:

Botox Explained

Anti-wrinkle injections are an aesthetic treatment that helps to ‘relax’ the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles that have developed due to expressive muscle movements. The treatment can help to reduce these movements for a softer, younger-looking complexion. It may be delivered on its own or used as part of a treatment programme alongside other procedures, such as dermal fillers.

Targeted Areas

We mainly inject Botox into parts of the face such as the brows and forehead, or around the eyes. We can also inject it in the jawline to soften a ‘masculine’ or muscular jaw and the neck to reduce bands.

Process and Results

Botox typically takes 30 minutes to administer, depending on the number of treatment areas, and results can last anywhere from 3-6 months. It may take a couple of weeks for results to develop. To maintain results, repeated treatments are recommended, which our experts can advise you on during your consultation.

Safety and Side-Effects

Some people can be wary of botox (botulinum toxin A), believing it’s toxic to the skin. But that couldn’t be further from the truth. Anti-wrinkle injections are safe and fully tested, with a long history of use in medical and cosmetic settings. It’s also a regulated treatment that needs to be prescribed and can only be delivered by an expert like one of our team here in Clapham. Of course, some side effects may occur – as with any injection – most commonly redness, bruising and swelling around the treated area.

Aftercare and Healing

Anti-wrinkle injections don’t need lots of special aftercare, but you will need to be mindful of the injection sites in the first few days to prevent infection (for instance, no touching or lying on the treated areas). You’ll also need to avoid exercise and heat treatments for several days, as these can lead to swelling. We’ll provide some guidance after your treatment to help you care for your skin and prevent side effects.
