Dental hygiene

“I am writing to tell you how pleased I am with the treatment I am receiving from Maria. I find her thorough and helpful. She has given me very good advice about looking after my mouth. This has resulted in a marked improvement in my dental health. I have recommended friends and family who are now seeing her too.”

We believe that dental hygiene is one of the most important services we provide. At Crescent Lodge Dental Practice in Clapham Common, we have a large team of dental hygienists, called Kasia, Sorcha, Edyta, Maria and Marcia, whose mission is to ensure your teeth and gums remain in optimal health.

Our dental hygiene services are available from 8.30am - 7.30pm every weekday and from 9am – 1pm on Saturdays and we usually have between two and three hygienists working at any one time to allow you to visit us at your convenience.

Convenient appointments

Our computer system is set up to encourage dental health assessments and hygiene appointments back to back so that you only need to attend once to receive thorough care from both dental professionals.

We encourage you to come in for hygiene appointments on a regular basis so that we can keep an eye on the health of your gums and stop any gum disease from spreading. The more frequently you visit, the easier your oral health will be to maintain.

During a hygiene appointment, your hygienist will remove any plaque and tartar from your teeth that may have built up in certain areas, such as in between your teeth. Your teeth will be professionally cleaned with special equipment and paste for adding extra sparkle also our intraoral cameras can show the true condition of your teeth and gums.

An important aspect of our hygienists’ role is to show you how to look after your teeth so they remain free from plaque. You will be advised on the best brushing techniques and given tips on flossing and using interdental brushes.

Dental hygiene also forms part of treating gum disease and bad breath. If you have a bridge, denture, orthodontic treatment or a dental implant you will have specific hygiene needs that our hygienists will be able to assist you with.

You are welcome to visit our hygiene team as often as you like, without seeing a dentist first and you don’t have to be a registered patient to see them either.
